If you’re looking for a unique adventure while staying at our farm, Linville Caverns is a must-see! Just a quick 40-minute drive away, these incredible underground caves have been wowing visitors for decades with their stunning formations, cool underground streams, and fascinating history.
We recently visited, and it was extra special because Linville Caverns just reopened last week after the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. The caverns flooded, and while the water levels were high, it wasn’t the worst they’ve ever seen. (Apparently, Mother Nature likes to remind us who’s boss every now and then!)
The Aftermath of the Flood

While the caverns themselves are back to their eerie, breathtaking beauty, the gift shop took quite a hit. Mud and water caused significant damage, and the staff is still working hard to get everything back in order. But despite the challenges, they were incredibly welcoming, and you could feel their excitement about having visitors again. If you go, consider grabbing a souvenir to help support them as they recover!
What to Expect on Your Visit

Walking through Linville Caverns feels like stepping into another world. Cool, damp air surrounds you as you weave through narrow passages, marveling at stalactites, stalagmites, and underground pools. The guided tours are informative and fun (our guide had some great stories!), and they even turn off all the lights at one point so you can experience total darkness—it’s wild!

One of the coolest things we got to see was the rare fish that only pops up now and then—definitely a treat for any nature lover. We also spotted a sleeping bat (seriously, how adorable are they when they’re resting?) and a few granddaddy longlegs hanging around, doing their thing. Nature is alive and well in the caverns, and we loved seeing these little surprises on our tour!
Why It’s Perfect for Farmstay Guests
Since it’s such a short drive, Linville Caverns makes for an easy half-day trip while staying at the farm. Whether you want a break from the sun, need an activity for a rainy day, or just love exploring nature in all its forms, this is a fantastic option.
Caverns & Wine: The Perfect Pairing

One of the best parts? Linville Caverns is just 10 minutes from Linville Falls Winery, making it easy to turn your day into the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. Explore the underground wonders, then head over to the winery to sip on a glass of local wine while soaking in the beautiful mountain views. It’s the best way to wind down after a cool (literally!) cave tour.
Plan Your Trip
